As far as I’m concerned, there are VERY rarely any circumstances that would require the switch (certain health issues come to mind). You’re right, breastfeeding is better, in fact it is NORMAL, while formula is inferior. That is NOT saying FF moms are bad moms; it’s simply a fact about formula!! We as mothers should make sacrifices for our kids, including sharing our body in order to provide them with perfect nutrition. 🙂 In the scheme of things, a year or two (or three lol) of breastfeeding is just a tiny portion of a persons’ life. Edit: Tyler’s momma, I will state scientific FACTS as well as my opinions. Take them as you wish. I am not here to attack mothering, or tell women they are bad parents. If you are confident with your choices, nothing I say should matter to you, especially since I’m not throwing around words like “bad mom” which unfortunately some snotty people do.

It is, but many women are switching now because in the society of today it is considered “gross” or some people even believe it will make their children wimps and develope bad habits. None of it is true, but that’s just how some see it. Some woman are too busy or go back to work to BF (i’ll admit, it does take a lot of commitment) and some women formula feed because BFing makes them feel gross or they want to diet or they want to drink again, or because they have to go out of town for a while. And some women(very few) cannot BF at allor “dry up”early on, so they have to use formula.

Just because it’s ‘proven to be better’ doesn’t mean it’s better for everyone! There is always the exception to the rule. Some people lose milk. Some people really don’t enjoy breast feeding. Some people can’t tolerate the pain of the latching. Some people just want the ‘convenience’ of formula. It doesn’t matter why someone switches to formula. It’s a personal decision that every Mother has to make. Either she will or she won’t [switch to formula.] Some people really don’t enjoy breast feeding, that negative emotion can definitely be passed onto the baby.

Mostly because those women have to go back to work and they think it is more convenient to use formula than to pump. I personally am still breastfeeding and will continue to do until she is ready to wean. I don’t understand those who willingly choose to use formula instead of their own milk right from the get-go. I feel sorry for those babies who don’t even get a fighting chance.
