That is actually a good question and research has been done on it. A large majority of people make bad decisions based on not looking for information and making assumptions because some ideas look good on the surface or in the short-term, but people fail to consider questions thoroughly or consider long-term consequences. Some answers just look good and they base their decisions on what they were taught by their parents, keeping old information alive, no matter how many times it has been shown as out-dated. I don’t know how many times I have shown people that no matter what strategy they use, they will lose at gambling. People offer gambling to MAKE money after all, and they make millions.
