Why do people like rope halters?
I started using rope halters all due to one horse–Clu. When I bought her as a 4 yr old, her previous owners hadn’t really worked with her about standing tied and that sort of thing. Whenever she was tied to the trailer, she would set back and break the hardware on the nylon halter (usually the ring that you snap the lead to would break first). I tried several types of halters and then finally a rope halter. Since it has no hardware, there is none to break. She set back the first couple of times and when she then realized the halter wasn’t going to break, she quit. She hasn’t set back when tied since!
