Well… I think that there are 2 answers to that. The first is that if you are better off financially, there’s nothing stopping you having private cover for whatever you like. Lots of people have dental and/or medical insurance. We have medical insurance provided by my husband’s company. I have used the insurance, but there could be times when the insurance will not pay for whatever reason, and then the NHS is there to help too. The NHS will also be there if my husband ever loses his job (God forbid). Secondly, I understand what you are saying about it makes sense for pooper people but not those who are better off, but not everything is about self-interest. I can afford to ‘go private’, but I’m very pleased to be somewhere where those who are less fortunate than we are, will get help when they need it.
