Why do people get headaches in the morning when they are NOT hungover?

There are a LOT of possible causes for headaches – I’ve had chronic daily headaches for about 6 years now, and I still don’t know what causes them. One recommendation – have your mother visit her dentist to check if she’s clenching her jaw or grinding her teeth at night. Also ask about TMJ disorder (a joint disorder dealing with the bones, tendons, etc of the jaw – just Google TMJ for more info). TMJ and clenching/grinding your teeth can cause headaches. I tend to clench my jaw often, especially when I’m sleeping, so my dentist made a special mouth guard for me to wear while I sleep. While it hasn’t cured my headaches, it has lessened them to a degree.
