Why do people generate Spyware?
This is a frequent question usually asked as we begin to remove the dozens, hundreds, and in some cases, thousands of spyware programs infecting computers. Basically, its because of money. Spyware is a $2 Billion industry today. This is estimated from the number of Adware installations and the fees generated by each installation. The part that is really annoying, is that in this business, frequently illegitimate (spyware companies) are partnered with legitimate advertisers and marketing efforts. Some call this the current version of the Wild West in aggressive marketing trying to get the eyeballs and clicks from consumers across the internet. This occurs when legitimate companies, in exchange for fees and promises of ad revenue, include spyware software with their software. The spyware then gets installed when the program is installed.
