Why do people follow religion?

0

You’re right to some extent. I’ve always believe that people follow a religion because they need something to believe in. Religions have no valid evidence and therefore it’s easier to keep up the faith, especially when there’s detailed instructions. They need something to give them hope, though it’s more or less a juvenile fantasy. Despair can make people naive, and those are easy targets for brain-washing – the fear factor ties it all together. Fear of death is common – the majority don’t want to die; death is hard to picture. Most – if not all – religions provide some sort of explanation for the afterlife, and that gives peace of mind to cure the fear. Humans fear the unknown; it’s a fact proven. When the Unknown has an explanation, people are drawn to that like a moth to a flame. In short, people search for hope, happiness and fulfillment, and religion can provide all three.
