Why do people distrust doctors so much but trust total strangers on the internet?

Because they take all the meds that the doctor prescribes, feel like s***, and are basically non-functional after taking them??? I wouldn’t say I trust total strangers, but I have found out how to be well via the internet. I look at what is being said, and if it makes sense I will try it to see if it works. I have schizophrenia, was considered a severe case, and only really got well by ignoring doctors. Now I have a great, demanding, well-paid job – where no-one knows anything about my illness, a really smart apartment, a lovely little toyota celica, etc… And I feel terrific. I still take some antipsychotic (about 10% of the supposed minimum dose), but use reasonably cheap natural treatments. Which I came across on the internet, posted by strangers like you and me. If I had listened to the doctors, I would most likely be living in a grotty bedsit, or with my mum, going off to the drop-in centre to sit around smoking all day, and living on practically no money.
