Why do people campaign against multinational companies and not the government for globalisation problems?
Your question could be read two ways:- Why doesn’t the government do the complaining to multinational companies in stead of the public? OR:- Why don’t people complain to the government instead of complaining to the mutlinational companies? The answer is basically the same for both, that is that the government complaining can drive the companies away, so that relocate elsewhere (where another government may be more tolerant), and this would result in no change to the activities of the multinationalm companies, but the tax revenue loss to the government (because the multinational companies would then be paying their taxes to the governments at their new location. This is what would happen if the government did the complaining, and this would be the result if we complained to the government – they would then complain to the multinational companies on our behalf.
