Why do people buy alpacas?
Many people fall in love with alpacas at first sight. Pet alpacas are about as expensive as some breeds of dogs and horses. They are easy to take care of and are completely safe for kids. They provide opportunities for 4H Club fairs and other shows. Many farms buy alpacas as an investment. You can graze eight to ten alpacas per acre. Some farms have very little pasture, since alpacas pack together, its common to see twenty or thirty alpacas grouped in small areas. return to top 12. How expensive is it to raise alpacas? Alpacas are fairly economical to raise. Feed costs approximately $15 per month per animal. Veterinary bills vary; females and crias (i.e., young alpacas) need more vet care than males. The average cost per year per animal is about $250.
