Why do people become satanists?

They must feel that God doesn’t love them or really that there is no God. They are misinformed and need help. I don’t think that there is any reward in going to hell, but just suffering, and these people don’t belive that. They see it as a form of rebellion and that it is cool to be for the Devil.

you said it, pretty much… my only other guess is that they think hell may not be a bad place, but only the opposite of heaven… like heaven = nice people gold everywhere bla bla hell = a big giant playground for evil people drugs everywhere alcohol fountains in the streets but i dunno just my oppinion.

From what I understand, most of the people who call themselves ‘Satanists’ are atheists who live by a moral philosophy that is opposite to the one described in the Christian bible. The main example, I gather, is that the bible instructs Christians to ‘love’ everyone indiscriminately, whereas these people believe you should only love the people who deserve your love, otherwise ‘love’ as a concept is devalued and means nothing. Presumably they call themselves ‘Satanists’ because of the use opposite philosophy, or to offend Christians, or because they couldn’t think of anything more original.
