What may seem stupid to you doesn’t necessarily seem stupid to someone else. Moreover, an argument about an apparently trivial matter may reflect or mask conflicts on larger matters. You might try thinking about what people are really saying when they argue about whether Sponge Bob is gay or not, or how an argument about the world ending (or not) in 2012 reflects certain attitudes and anxieties that some people hold. Consider why they hold them. As for Taylor Swift’s hair, sometimes people really do like to discuss and debate the genuinely trivial because discussing and debating major issues can be too disturbing and unpleasant.
they just like to express their opinions on matters of little significance and they sure believe with utmost conviction on the superiority of their own opinions that they refuse to be swayed by others’ hence the unending quarrel as to whose opinion is most correct which leads you to conclude that their arguments are indeed “stupid”
