Why do people air such ignorant views about socialism?
Probably because they are ignorant and bigoted they have been indoctrinated form childhood to fear socialism without understanding what it has to offer. They just reject anything they fear, sadly very few socialist government have been allowed to succeed because of US intervention to undermine any political group or country that leans to far to the left. The few that have survived and prospered are the Scandinavian socialist democracies, they have high tax rates, great social services and a very high standard of living. Usually much higher than the USA. They are rarely mentioned by right wing neocons who prefer to ignore them and say things like ” Name one single country where socialism has worked.
