Why do people aim their handguns SIDEWAYS in movies?
Because it looks cool and no other reason. If you are actually trained to use a handgun they don’t tell you to hold it that way because the alignment of your eyes needs to be perpendicular to the iron sights. If you hold it sideways it actually makes it more difficult to hit your target for two reasons: muzzle rise and binocular vision. Humans are vertical targets so if your muzzle is flipping to the side between shots instead of vertically, your chance of hitting on subsequent shots is diminished, and your eyeballs will not be able to make as clear a line of sight from the side as from the top.
