Why do patients have to do a peak flow and complete a diary?
This treatment is very expensive and it is important that it is given to people for whom it works well. Patients who wish to go ahead with it will have a responsibility to make sure that they: • attend appointments • continue to take all other medication • record their peak flow daily • fill in the asthma diary weekly. Failure to do so may result in this treatment option being withdrawn. You will be asked to sign a consent form before you start treatment to show you understand this. Patients must inform the nurse or doctor if: • they become pregnant, are breast feeding or intend to breastfeed • their asthma gets worse • they experience any side effects following their omalizumab injection.
