Why do organic fertilizers have lower NPK analyses and why is the lawn coverage per bag lower?

0

There are a limited number of natural and organic ingredients available and they have lower NPK amounts than synthetic fertilizers. Coverage on lawn fertilizers is based on the generally accepted rate of 1 lb of Nitrogen per 1000 square feet. Thus natural and organic fertilizers with a lower N will cover fewer square feet than a synthetic fertilizer with a higher N figure. However, with organics there are many other benefits over synthetics. PERFECTLY Natural feeds from the soil up, not the plant down as is the case with synthetic fertilizers. Applications of natural and organic fertilizers may be heavier but are done only a few times a year. The fertilizers feed and stimulate soil micro-organisms that help provide additional nutrients to the plant, not just what’s in the fertilizer bag.
