Why do not enough beauty companies cater for darker skin tones?
good question! Sadly, light complexions are considered much more beautiful than dark. If you go to any drugstore and go to the beauty aisle, they have a specific “ethnic” section. Here, you will find several skin and hair lightening products. Creme bleach, spot treatment, lighter toned coverup. Very dark women seem to think that lighter skin is more beautiful and they think they will get treated better if they have lighter complexions. Makeup advertisements, commercials, and products emphasize the “beauty of light skin”. Dark skin seems to be o-u-t out. Even black models, talk show hosts, etc are light skinned black people. But in reality, light skinned people DO get treated better than very dark skinned people. It’s a flaw in our society that’s existed as long as the human race has. And I absolutely adore dark skin!
