Why do newborns need to be photographed so early?

A newborn that is only a few days old will usually sleep through anything! In order to get the baby to fold up into squished and cute positions it is necessary that they be sleepy, cozy and comfortable. The ideal age is right around 6-7 days. Each day that the baby gets older they sleep a little less, stretch out more and skin imperfections (like baby acne) start to show. I know you are tired and don’t feel like having your picture taken but I can pretty much guarantee that if you wait until your baby is a few weeks old he/she will not sleep and we will spend much of the session just trying to get him/her to sleep. Also, newborns do not have complete control of their limbs and if they are awake they often look like they are “swimming” as they move their arms around and a newborn’s eyes are often crossed when open.
