Why do my white cake mixes turn out like angel food cake?
i was told when making brownies if you wanted them cake like to put the eggs in immediately and beat them with the rest of the mix, but if you want them gooey to wait til the last minute to add the eggs. this could be what is happening with your cake too since i am assuming that by angel food cake consistency you mean really light and fluffy. try adding the eggs after you have mixed the ingredients.
