Why do my new in-line skates slip uncontrollably in a skating rink?
You can try to abrade the surface a little. It might help. Some compounds are just grippier than others. It may depend a little on the durometer but is not mainly determined by it. One thing would be to look for the wheels to what your old skates have. I use the Zero Drag Racing (84a hardness) (www.rollerbob.com/cat-10.html) all year. In the winter that is indoors on a polished concrete floor that tends to be slightly slippery (www.roller-dome.com). I have heard great things from the pro skaters about the Am-Wing wheels (www.rollerbob.com/cat-13.html) including a comment by one who was trying them for the first time and was trying to get them to slip. He couldn’t.
