Why do my 2 dogs attack each other when i walk them and they see another dog?
I have 2 dogs that normally get along great but when I got my first foster dog a few weeks back one of my dogs began attacking the other when he could see the other dog in the front yard. My trainer said it was similar to when you are really worked up and the smallest little thing can just set you off, this would be the equivalent to him barking and basically flipping out because he can see the other dog and is jealous or wants to dominate him and then the other dog can do something as small as bark or bump up against him and he turns on her. I think this is quite similar to what Ali described, the redirected aggression. As for what you should do, since it is a dominance issue you have to be in charge. The terrier is the problem, the pug shouldn’t get attacked because he jumps on her. My dogs are made to sit when we see another dog on a trail and not move or if we are passing someone they are not always allowed to stop and meet.
