Why do Muslims pray facing toward that black building?
The black builing is called the Ka’ba. We believe it is the first altar ever made to worship the Almighty Creator (SWT) and was first built by Abraham (SA). The initial altar constructed by Abraham (SA) was held sacred by those who followed him even into pagan times. At the time that Muhammad (SAS) was born, the Ka’ba was being used by pagans as their place of worship and housed over three hundred statues that they worshipped as gods. These idols were destroyed by Muhammad (SAS) when he finally came to power in Mecca.
