Why do Muslims fast or starve during Ramadan?
First and foremost we are not famished nor suffering, just thought I’d put that out there. We Do get to eat in the very early morning and after sun down. a very simple answer is, God ordered us to. However I will not be so rude as to leave it at that…Call me nice I guess “O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you…”(2:183) Muslims are Not the first or only people to fast. Jewish people fast and some Christians do too. One fasts for God, to remember our blessings, and to be pious and continue the ways of the old followers of god. Moses and Jesus were known to have fasted as well. We, basically fast; because all who have and do believe in God have fasted and do fast. To remember our blessings, to attain piety, so that God may forgive past sins, because it is one of the pillars of Islam, because in the Qur’an it states that we should fast because it was prescribed to us and those before us.
