Why do Muslim women pray separately to Muslim men?
When it is time to pray one of the five ritual prayers, men and women pray in separate lines following the same Imam. The Muslim prayer is a physical one, where worshippers stand closely together in prayer, with their shoulders and feet usually touching the person next to them. They also prostrate down to the ground. The separate praying is to avoid any possible distraction the opposite sex may cause.
