Why do much-praised child actors grow to become lousy actors as adults?
That isn’t true. Jodie Foster won two academy awards. Leonardo Di Caprio has been nominated for academy awards. Mickey Rooney has done some excellent work as an adult, as has Judy Garland. Natalie Wood, Dennis Hopper, Ron Howard, Dean Stockwell, Melissa Gilbert to mention a few. True, some haven’t grown but that was because all they had to sell was “cute”. Adult actors are just as guilty. John Wayne never changed one iota from movie to movie…Charlton Heston was always the same. They sold “personality” not talent and their strong personalities were enough years ago for audiences. That is not enough today. The young actor who played Forrest Gump’s son…the young actress who played Sean Penn’s daughter in “I am Sam”. They are very talented.
