Why do most people hate rock,metal,punk music?

First off, I’d leave rock out of the question seeing as rock has been around for about 70 years now and is still very strong, if not the most popular form of music. As for metal and punk, which are both rock subgenres, some people can’t get around the perceived “noise” that’s associated with those genres. Not so much for punk, but lots of metal bands have very legitimate musical talent and deserve more respect, unfortunately some people just can’t get past the harsh nature of the music.
