Why Do Most Dominicans Look Black ?
I’m Dominican and I don’t take offense to your comment on the stereotypical look… I know what that look is here in the US because it’s what you mostly see on both English and Spanish speaking channels… there are far more Mexicans than any other Latinos in this country so understandably, they represent the “typical Latinos”… (like George Lopez) But in NY, Miami, and East coast the “typical Latino” looks are slightly more Afrocentric… anyways, to answer your question… most Dominicans have west African heritage… just as slaves were brought to the South to work on plantations, they were also brought to the Caribbean, Central America, and South America to serve as free labor there.
