Why do most celebrities support only fashionable causes like AIDS and not TB?
This is a controversy created by the press where none exists. awareness about AIDS needs to be increased. It’s not that celebrities take up causes and build movements around them. They only pick up causes which are dear to them, and not because it’s fashionable. In fact, AIDS is a much maligned illness. That’s why it needs celebrity endorsements all the more. It would help if virile young celebrities like Salman Khan endorse public awareness campaigns. Celebrities in this country should make a contribution to the society in return for the love they get from people. Do events like celebrity walks serve any purpose? Walks are obnoxious. There is only hoopla about them. This is the last walk (on December 1) I have undertaken. The school-children were not given even AIDS awareness handbills.
