Why do minor parents have to provide their parent/legal guardians information?
Under Texas law, minors are not seen as adults in civil legal matters and must have an adult representative during legal matters, including child support suits. A minor parent, when applying for child support services, should provide the name and contact information of an adult who can serve as their next friend (adult representative). In most cases this will be the minors parent or legal guardian.
