Why do Mexican people call each other “holmes”?

0

“Homes”, not “Holmes”. Slang. First black people used to call each other “Home Boy” when blacks started to migrate in vast numbers from the South to the North. This was around the 20’s and 30’s. When one would run into another man from his home town, he would call him home boy. Then blacks started to use the term to identify each other out of friendliness by saying “Homes”. Then Mexicans copied it and they say “Homes” also. See how cultures sometimes overlap. Kind of interesting.
