Hello, (ANS) I suspect that often the true answer is a) On grounds on morality, because the issue/s are ethically contentious b) for party political i.e. power games within their own party. c) Just to through hack off Gordon Brown et al. d) Because they don’t believe voting on a specific issue will really make any difference or because they don’t believe a bill or policy has much chance of becoming law, thus feel its a waste of their time as an MP.
