Why do marvel and dc comics have such similar characters?
They create such enormous universes with so many characters. There are only so many superpowers possible and only so many general personalities (I’m not talking about details and nuances here) that overlap is inevitable. In addition, once an archetype has been developed, it becomes so ingrained in fandom’s perception that it’s hard to break away from that mold.
