Why do many atheists believe in ghosts but not God?
I’m as confused as you are. Oh well, you’re maybe more confused. Christians really are not supposed to believe in sourcery and spirits. Also, if you mean by a ghost, ”the remains of something lingering on earth, because it’s not in heaven or hell,” then really that is not supposed to exist either. I read the answers and I can see why people would believe these things. I only believe things if I have a very good reason to, and well, I have no indication ghosts exist. I guess there are all kinds of atheists. One more thing: Why do many Christians believe in God, and still bicker about every little detail in the Bible?
I’ve answered this question before – atheists do not believe in souls, so they would not believe in ghosts. The so-called atheists you’re saying that have told you they believe in ghosts are not really atheists, they’re probably agnostic and don’t understand the definition of an atheist. Believing in ghosts would completely negate the term “atheist.” Believing in a soul would be saying atheists believe in a supernatural world, or magic, or god. Atheists do not believe in any of those things. Christians say they don’t believe in sorcery or magic, but then again, they somehow feel threatened by the idea of it (banning Harry Potter Books) and they’re the ones that buy into the ghost/spirit/psychic crap. When you die, do you really believe you’ll be floating around for eternity visiting your relatives and random strangers? What kind of an idea of an afterlife is that? That would suck. Keep trying, maybe someday you’ll get one over on us. Don’t pat yourself on the back for this one just yet
