anti-Christians wouldn’t be going to mass or a christian church on Christmas day. That’s bizarre. If you mean non-christians who celebrate Christmas, then I can answer your questions. First, the traditon of a tree and even the date as well as other characteristics were all borrowed from pre-Christian pagan holiday traditions. So there is no really traditional way to celebrate Christmas other than to reject all the festivity, to refuse to put up a tree or to burn a log in the fireplace or exchange gifts. Perhaps you can just meet on some other agreed upon date and do whatever you think your religion dictates. Me? I enjoy the season. I love having a couple of days set aside to put up festive decorations and trim a tree (bring a touch of nature into the house during a time when the garden sleeps) and exchange gifts and break bread with my family and friends. Christmas has become such a secular holiday around the world that many people who aren’t Christian will celebrate it. In this sense, Christmas becomes more a holiday to recognize traditional myth and enjoy time with family during the winter months. There really is no difference between non-Christians and Christians celebrating this holiday except for the fact that the religious go to mass Christmas morning and others don’t. Also, non-Christians don’t associate Christmas with the birth of Christ, though they may know the Bethlehem manger story since it’s been popularly told.
