Why do male hip hop fans wear tank tops without cover shirts?
Much of what hip hop artists wear are simply reflections of what is worn on prison yards. To be authentic is very important to these type of entertainers. Thats why they try to reflect, for example, what different sets or gangs wear when they’re on their block. If you listen closely, you’ll notice that they always pay respect to their neighborhood back home. Its attempt to prove that the experiences they rap about are genuine. Wearing tank tops without a cover shirt was first seen in Latino gangs and quickly moved to the prison yard and then back out to the streets in all gang cultures.
