Why do magican/wiccan/priest type people refer to magic as black or white?
I would the answer to “why” is that many of those you are referring to are just repeating dogma and ideology taught to them or read in a book. Though there are truly individual-thinking Pagans out there, for many it is pure trend and they blindly believe and repeat in the same manner as the Christians they often criticize for the same thing. For the individual-minded Pagans, you have a point to some degree, but I’m not sure it carries the weight you are applying to it. Of course most of what ANYONE EVER does has some selfish motive….even if it is to feel good about doing good. I’m not some naive hippie, but one can’t help but wonder how awesome the world would be if the only selfishness that existed was that of people doing positive things so they could feel good about it. Certainly better than doing negative things for any reason. Perhaps that is the way they look at it.
