Why do lots of people live on the coast of Australia and not the middle?
This is exagerated by the size of Australia, as in it becomes more obvious the difference in density in inland ‘outback’ areas and coastal regions. Australia’s ‘outback’ is mostly an inhospitable desert, with few water resources so no long term prospects for large populations to survive in such arid regions.
