Why do leaves fall of the trees near winter?
basically leaves fead trees. They emerge in the spring and gather light air and other nutrients through respiration and photosynthesis. They feed the tree all year long and when the fall comes around the tree asks for everthing it can get to store up for the winter. The leaves are stripped of all there nutrients. creating the color display in the fall. While most deciduos trees will drop their leaves in late fall some will hang onto them until spring.
