Why do Kigurumist refuse to take off their mask if asked so everyone can see their face?
The art of Kigurumi is about creating the illusion of the character. If a Kigurumist were to take off their mask, it would break the illusion for everyone and ruin the experience. Additionally, asking a Kigurumi artist or any other individual who is wearing mask while they are portraying a character to take off their mask just so you can see their face is very rude and an extreme breach of etiquette. Furthermore, the Kigurumist, or any other individuals who portray characters such as Darth Vader or the Storm Troopers at conventions are there to have fun and interact with others as their characters, not to satisfy someones idle curiosity of what they really look like underneath the mask. Instead of wondering about what the person under the mask looks, just enjoy the Kigurumist or the individuals portrayal of their character.
