Why do Jews live in Hebron?
A. Hebron was the first Jewish city in the Land of Israel, settled by Abraham and Sarah almost 4,000 years ago. About three thousand years ago David established in Hebron the Kingdom of Judea and lived in Hebron for seven and a half years until moving up to Jerusalem. Jews lived almost continuously in Hebron since the days of Abraham, with very few exceptions. Hebron is, quite literally, the roots of the Jewish people. If Jews have no right to live in Hebron, what right to they have to live in Tel Aviv? Had it not been for the Arab terror in 1929, Hebron would today be a large Jewish metropolis. Clearly, Arab terror must stop and Jewish human rights must be honored.
