Why do IWCS high schools have two semesters of four long periods instead of one year of six classes per day?
The “block schedule” used by Isle of Wight County schools not only allows students to complete more courses (eight) in one school year, but extends calls from the traditional 55 minute class to 98 minute classes. This additional time in the classroom each day gives teachers an opportunity to provide more in-depth instruction on sbuject matter.
