When running iTunes or Microsoft Office applications you may notice poor performance, trouble redrawing the application on the screen or images in PowerPoint may not appear if your X server isn’t configured for 24bit colour. You can solve this problem by switching your X server’s colour depth to 24 bits per pixel. This can be done by editing /etc/X11/XF86Config and adding a DefaultDepth entry in the Screen section, as shown below.
