Why do international students have to pay differential tuition fees?
For those of you who didn’t know, international students that attend U of C are required to pay regular tuition plus 100% of the regular tuition fee as a differential/international student fee. Basically, international students pay double. There are many arguments both for and against these differential fees. We will not discuss those here. Why does this happen? The University of Calgary is required by provincial law to charge the fees. The U of C has suggested that this be removed from the provincial legislation but the government does not agree with them.
