Blood in the mucus may be the result of : 1. A nosebleed which you may be unaware of. 2. The possibility of pneumonia. Sinus infection does not cause a nosebleed nor is nosebleed a sinus infection symptom. Blowing one’s nose too violently does! If you feel very ill and weak and have been coughing for a relatively long period of time, I would suggest you see a doctor as soon as possible to get the right treatment as soon as possible.
