Why do I see patrol cars driving over the speed limit without their lights and siren activated?
When responding to certain types of calls, the officer has to consider the department’s policy manual and tactical training when deciding to use the emergency equipment. For example, when responding to an burglar alarm the officers want to get there as quickly and safely as possible but do not want to give their location away to the suspect by using emergency equipments, i.e.; lights and siren.
