Why do I procrastinate even on things I enjoy?
A plausible psychological reason: If you are putting off starting a project, even one that peaks your interest, it may be that you are fearful of actually completing it. Deep inside, you may crave the rush of the idea, the scheme, the Grande plan, but what will fill that void when the task at hand is done? What then? You will suffer from despair of having no stimulating plans to achieve, so you delay their completion by procrastinating their very beginning.
A practical, common sense reason: Some people are simply much better at working under the pressure of looming deadlines. A sense of urgency stirs the creative and survival instincts in some of us that causes us to complete the job. If you find yourself always procrastinating, yet, getting the task done and done well, then relax. It’s just your mode of operation.
If however, you find yourself waiting until the last moment and not finishing or finishing, but with lackluster results, then you have a problem that must be addressed. In that case I would recommend EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to assist in removing this unwanted habit. See MyEasyEFT.com.
