Why do I need training on how to use a digital tachograph?
As with any new development there is a need to ensure that people understand how to operate it correctly whether they be a driver or a manager. The digital tachograph has many advantages over its old counterpart but without correct operation it will give out false information. If it is used correctly the digital tachograph helps to protect both the drivers license and the operators “O” license. Used incorrectly and the consequences can be very serious. Unlike the analogue tachograph where the card could be lost and there was no other record of the drivers activities, the digital system records the drivers duty on the vehicle unit and retains those records for approximately twelve months! You as a driver or an operator need to know how to operate the new system correctly to protect yourself from prosecution!
