Why do I need to worry about Linux if some companies have come out with indemnification programs and legal defense funds?

The fact that some companies are willing to assist with the legal defense of some qualified Linux users does not mitigate the liability Linux end users have with SCO. While some may take comfort in the fact that they have some cover by this protection, any litigation would still be with the end user. It is also SCOs understanding that these programs are restrictive as to liability cap, Linux versions, hardware under which Linux is run and expensive due to some requirements of full, premium service contracts. Some also restrict what can and cannot be done with Linux, including future modifications. One program only offers code replacement (which is problematic) and does not address end user liability at all. The only program in which Linux end users are approved and licensed to use SCO IP is through SCO.
