LED replacement lamps seem to be a reasonable solution, however they do not take into consideration thermal management and light output. All of the LEDs are captive in a sealed tube and unable to receive the proper ventilation and heat dissipation. In addition, the light output angle is not optimized for LEDs as they are being forced to retrofit into the older existing fixture. Older lighting fixtures are not designed to distribute the LED light effectively, thus the quality of light is not improved.
