Why do I need to make changes to the codes that image map editing programs generate?
Normally, the main element that is missing from the codes that image map software generates is the alt tags. Remember alt tags are important for accessibility & usability and should be used on every image. They become especially important when an image map is used for navigation. If a visitor is using a text reader or has graphics turned off, the alt tags will allow them to see which pieces of an image map are links. Each piece should have it’s own alt tag.
